 Learning Journal 4th The technological aspects surrounding internet has been evolving at a rapid pace since its first mainstream introduction in the 90’s. Back then, the platform was still in its infancy and was limited in both size and features. The selected few who were able to gain access to the internet could only shuffle around a handful of activities such as reading local news, sending messages or looking at poor resolution pictures. Fast forward a couple of decades later, internet has quickly transformed and solidified itself as not only a tool for personal entertainment purposes, but also an indispensable asset for companies and large corporations to expand their influences on the masses. Assignment 3: Time Diary

 Time Diary Even though I am no longer a frequent social media user, I do find myself being fascinated at Tiktok as an occasional entertainment outlet. Even though I do not have a Tiktok account, I do browse, watch, and enjoy all the contents that the app can offer. In my opinion, it is a very interesting, break-through platform that allows users to express themselves in any sort of topics by using small video clips that can either be informative, educational, or most of the time, hilarious. I myself love these comedic short clips about TV shows and mainstream music. Where users make clips of themselves singing, dancing, and sometimes poking fun at recent popular TV shows for their bad writing and cliché approach. I browse Tiktok occasionally, averaging around 30 minutes to 1 hour a day depending on the workload or homework that I have for that day. I would not call my activity as a recurring habit as I sometimes go for as long as two weeks without watching any Tiktok videos. T...

 Metrics and Analytics The core nature of most modern social media platforms that we use today can best be compared to that of an unregulated playground. Where every activity, commentary, and posts are carefully tracked, analyzed, and shared without the users’ permissions. Every time someone log on to their social media account, they unknowingly leave behind a so-called digital footprint. These digital footprints can be as simple as a single post of Twitter. Where aside from the content of the tweet itself, the post may also contain a plethora of other small chunks of data, such as location, time and date (Lipschultz, 2017). These little pieces of data together form “big data”, which is a large block of information that is shared between different layers within the social media website.
