Welcome to my Blog
First off, a brief introduction about myself. My name is Phuc Nguyen, I am a currently in my 4th year here at University of South Florida (USF). Me and my family originally came over from Vietnam and we have been residents of the sunshine state for roughly eight years now. Of course, being a foreign student there were quite a bit of things that were unfamiliar to me at first, such as culture, food, religions, just to name a few. But everything soon started to feel more at home the more I spend my time here. Unlike most people, I was not really taken back by the heat and humidity that is common throughout the year here Florida. As someone who hailed from a tropical country, this type of climate is what I have been used to since the day I was born.
I am working toward a degree in Health Science. A major that might sounds unfamiliar to some, but to me, this area of science just fit my work preference perfectly. I have always wanted to be a part of the ever-growing healthcare industries, but my lack of interpersonal skills and social interaction have prevented me from pursuing careers that involves direct patient care and frequent communication. Health Science, although being a part of the large group of disciplines related to the delivery of healthcare to humans, has less to do with nursing care and focuses more on the study of healthcare related topics, such as medicines, nutrition, and disease research. While I am not confident in my ability to directly treat an ill patient, I can still at least provide the knowledge and research to other qualified professionals and help make their jobs easier.
I do not have many hobbies. As an introvert most of my interests involve things that I can enjoy within the comfort of my own home. Activities such as reading, surfing the internet, watching TV take predominant during my free time. I used to draw quite a bit and have participated in a number of locally held art contests. I even won several prizes. Sadly, my interest had to be cut short due to college and work. I still occasionally draw, but just not nearly as much as I did back then. I hope I can devote myself more to drawing after graduation, but even that is not guaranteed as I feel like free time would be an even more of a luxury after securing a full time job.
I would not call myself as having a lot of professional experience as the few part-time jobs that I used to have mostly involve working in a fast food restaurants. The knowledge that I gained from such career was limited, the pay, however, was adequate enough for me to live by.
I used to be a very active Facebook user back when I was still in Middle school. That stopped when I got to High School and saw everyone was using Twitter instead. I am not currently using any Social Media as I found the plain old call-and-text with your phone to be more effective and convenient. I do go on Twitter from time to time, mostly for checking out artworks from artists that I like and browsing world news. I do not have a Twitter account as I feel like sharing your personal information should only be preserved to those that are closet to you.
My experience in regards to blogging is very limited. Mostly due to my lack of interest in other people's affairs and the non-existent desire to share my own life story to the mass. Another big reason being that blogging has not been a thing since 2008, when MySpace was dominated by Facebook, another Social Media platform giant. I myself did not even aware of MySpace until the news about it becoming less popular started to spread around. I do not know how to blog because I have never written a single blog in my life. Therefore this could be considered my first attempt at trying out the trend that was once popular among every single teenager in the US. Of course, the needs for blogging does not lie in just individual usage. Small businesses can also utilize it as a medium to help customers learn about the provided products or services. It is a good way to expand the brand's visibility and increase influence. If I happened to open my own business in the near future, blog and other social media could definitely come in handy.
Just want to mention that blogs are alive and well in 2022. Blogging and MySpace are 2 different things. Blogs are used by all major news outlets, most companies with an online presence and many artists, bands, organizations etc...But I don't blog either. I simply don't have enough time. Even for this class I don't have time to blog with everyone. That's why I comment as often as I can.
ReplyDeleteWhere in Vietnam are you from? I have friend from Ho Chi Minh City and from small villages in the North. I was in Ho Chi Minh City and areas around it in 2017. I really like Vietnam. I understand why anyone emmigrates because it still has it's problems but I really enjoyed my time there.
